Start with geography
One area, several distinct pieces of water.
Lower-bay wind exposure and vessel traffic deserve respect. Use the west or east side of the peninsula to create a protected option.

Build the first trip
Narrow the map before choosing tackle.
Select one launch based on wind direction, then choose either a flat-and-mangrove plan or a structure plan instead of trying to do both.
Choose the water
Lower Tampa Bay, Gulf passes and urban shoreline. Treat each water type as a separate trip until you understand how they connect.
Match the habitat
Grass flats, bridges, mangroves, seawalls and pass edges. Pick one or two habitat transitions instead of trying to sample everything.
Protect the return
Confirm the launch, forecast, water level or tide, and a sheltered fallback before leaving the ramp.
