Start with geography

One area, several distinct pieces of water.

Traffic and bridge crossings make launch choice important. Pick the Tampa Bay side, Sarasota Bay side or Gulf side before leaving.

  • Bradenton
  • Anna Maria Island
  • Palma Sola Bay

Build the first trip

Narrow the map before choosing tackle.

Use Palma Sola Bay or a nearby protected flat as the first plan and reserve the pass for favorable current and boat traffic.

01

Choose the water

Lower Tampa Bay, Sarasota Bay and Gulf passes. Treat each water type as a separate trip until you understand how they connect.

02

Match the habitat

Seagrass, mangroves, docks, bridges, passes and beaches. Pick one or two habitat transitions instead of trying to sample everything.

03

Protect the return

Confirm the launch, forecast, water level or tide, and a sheltered fallback before leaving the ramp.
