Start with geography

One area, several distinct pieces of water.

Refuge boundaries, parking, tides and post-storm access deserve advance verification. Do not assume every shoreline is open or fishable.

  • Captiva Island
  • Blind Pass

Build the first trip

Narrow the map before choosing tackle.

Choose either a legal beach-access plan or a sound-side launch and keep the day on that side of the islands.

01

Choose the water

Barrier-island beaches, passes and Pine Island Sound. Treat each water type as a separate trip until you understand how they connect.

02

Match the habitat

Beaches, mangroves, seagrass, passes and refuge shoreline. Pick one or two habitat transitions instead of trying to sample everything.

03

Protect the return

Confirm the launch, forecast, water level or tide, and a sheltered fallback before leaving the ramp.
